Announcing the pre-release of the new CD by FWAP entitled Perfect World

The release date for this long awaited CD will be announced shortly. Pre-release copies will be available for purchase on the music page of this site soon! Be sure to also visit FWAP at FWAP.NET

Perfect World features Joaquin Lievano on guitar and vocals, Andy West on bass, Hilary Jones on drums and Johnny Neel on Hammond Organ. Johnny is a first rate keyboardist who has played with the Allman Bros., Gov't Mule, Dickey Betts, Blue Floyd and many others. His playing adds a playfulness and sense of adventure to the music and helps to form the perfect chemistry. The extended seven tracks were beautifully mastered by Jim Brick at Absolute Audio in New York City.

FWAP was formed by Joaquin Lievano and Andy West to create a vehicle for their new music which contrasts the highly orchestrated and complex song forms they have used in their critically acclaimed band Zazen. At the same time, it is similar in aim, seeking a sense of adventure, imagination and beauty. FWAP is creating music on the fly with minimal orchestration, employing familiar song structures, counterpoint and looping patterns that build on each other. "Our goal is to explore the edges of music performance around the concepts of standard song form, rhythm and improvisation. We are finding ourselves paying tribute to our rock roots while still trying to create something new and interesting. It’s working so far..."

October 2004
Zazen would like to thank all those who braved the trip into hurricane country to catch their performance at the Dalai Lama event. Attendance was estimated Office Depot Center Floridaat somewhere around eleven thousand.

The Dalai Lama offered some words of wisdom and a call
for peace to end the world's troubles. It was truly an
exhilarating experience to hear Zazen music played in
such a large venue. Most concerts in such large halls can
be an echo nightmare but the sound was phenomenal at
the ODC.

Joaquin and Andy West would like to thank Scott Harris (on keyboards) and Alan Lin (on violin). They wowed the audience with their excellent performances of Zazen's compositions.

Zazen Lives!

Here is the setlist:

Hurricane Vayu (Cayman Blue)
Bonaire Sunrise (Cayman)
Zuni (Canyons of Light)
Sun Worship (Mystery School)
Solarization (Samadhi)
Torrey Pines (Samadhi)
Dancing with Waves (Samadhi)
Haitian High Priest (Cayman)
